Dwight Yoakam singing Close Up The Honky Tonks, a classic country song made famous by the late, great Buck Owens …it was written by Red Simpson, the legendary songwriter from Bakersfield, California…Red wrote many songs for and with Buck Owens, also he wrote songs recorded by Merle Haggard, Junior Brown and countless others.

He scored a big hit in the 70′s with the self penned classic “Hello, I’m a Truck”…Simpson is being honored in Nashville this spring at the country music hall of fame when the exhibit about The Bakersfield Sound opens. It is titled, The Bakersfield Sound, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and California Country…it runs through 2013, the audio tour is narrated by Dwight Yoakam.
